MAN’s SEARCH FOR MEANING by VIKTOR E. FRANKL

Do you think your life is a mess?

We really don’t talk about such stuff in the Indian household, yet here we are in the Co-vid times, wondering, what our life would have been. Working back at home, the whole day, and no fresh breeze, don’t we feel like a bunch of prisoners? Well, the novel: MAN’s SEARCH FOR MEANING by VIKTOR E. FRANKL talks about the hard times experienced by millions of prisoners and not just that, this book is about his own experience in the concentration camp. Yes, he survived.

We all have our own struggles, but an explanation could help us serve ourselves better because, in the end, it is us, who need to survive and experience the different wonders of this life. Dr Frankl is a psychiatrist by profession and has gone through a lot yet claims his sufferings to be his strength in order to help others change their attitude towards their life.

Even in the dark times, the man must trust his fate like Dr. Frankl, who got saved from getting burnt in the chimneys many times. The book shares the reference from the story DEATH IN TEHERAN. The hard times are the sufferings we may or may not be able to avoid but we can change our attitude towards the happenings.

The book is about the horrific experiences which we might have been spared from; like the thought, cherish what you have for it might mean the world for the other. Looking back on the past and trying to motivate others and ourselves, the book also talks about the importance of Logotherapy. Although I must warn you, you would want to know more about his afterlife, but this part is gradually over-drawn by the Logotherapy session. Anyhow, Dr Frankl took care of the feedbacks which he had received earlier from his readers and tries to explain, vividly, his therapeutic doctrine.

Dr Frankl has very well explained the sufferings with his own story and also, a few examples in the second part which I must let you have on your own.

And, if I may, I would like to quote LOS ANGELES TIMES ‘If you read but one book this year, Dr Frankl’s book should be the one.’

Happy Reading!
